An example of enhancing a birthday card. This ha sended up as a gift in itself rather than a store-bought afterthought. The addition of the bow acts as both additional decoration and a means of sealing the contents, making them far more personal, as opposed to a generic envelope. Much as a seal would have done in olden times.

With all presents, the addition of a bow has been cited as a means to make an article into a meaningful gift.
