What a magnificent concept. The stark tree, having shed it's leaves it awaits the return of life in the spring. The slightly alien landscape lit to the left with the datk orb, contrasts with the twilight scene on the right which, strangely and unsettlingly seem a more reassuring environment, indicating that the dark will protect us.

This is a picture which is masterfully constructed and truly makes the viewer think.
